im still very young and i wont have much money for mantinance
Then the LAST thing you want to be looking at is a diesel Excursion.

i like driving big!!!
Let's see - you like driving big on a small budget? I think you need to be a bit more mature and re-examine your priorities.

Im not going to be hualing so much (if any) just more of daily driver
Keep your Expy. If you absolutely must have a luxury school bus, then get a gas Excursion - either a 5.4 and deal with limited towing capacity or a V-10 and deal with miserable gas mileage.

Surely my mind is off tonight. I'm reading that you want an Excursion as a daily driver You'll be riding big alright. Into every gas station you see. My neighbor from back home had one with the v10 he literally got i think 8.5 to the gallon. That is a joke. You wanna go big... The new expy limited is a MONSTAR

I have a friend that was getting 9 mpg towing 7k with a V-10 Excursion. If your neighbor was getting 8.5 as a daily driver either something was wrong or he kept the gas pedal in the firewall. It should get more like 12 unloaded.

no matter which excursion you get, your not going to get "good" gas mileage.
if your set on a diesel, get a 7.3
with some simple mods my buddys 7.3 is getting 25MPG 10,200lbs excursion lol.

the V-10 6.8 will get 6MPG regaurdless of towing 10,000lbs or completly empty. he has one of those also.

diesels cost more for mantiance. you need 5 gallons of oil for an oil change. my buddys costs 80 bucks. also the front end stuff Brake wheel hubs will all cost more because they are HUGE.

if i got an Excursion id get a 7.3 over both the 6.0 and 6.8

Your post is 185% wrong. An Excursion will only weigh 10,000lbs if it is carrying a 2000lb safe and riding on 44" tires. And he isn't getting 25 MPG. Maybe on the lie-o-meter on the overhead display. The V-10 empty will get 13 MPG on the highway. I've done it myself. This was in a crew cab 2wd dually with 4:30 gears. Any Powerstroke motor requires 15 quarts of oil. That's 1 quart shy of 4 gallons, not 5. Using Motorcraft 15w40 oil, an oil change with filter is right around $50-55. Using 5w40 Rotella synthetic, it's about $80-85. About the only thing you did get right was that parts are expensive and that the 7.3 is a better choice.

The only way a 7.3 diesel Excursion will get 25 MPG is with some HEAVY mods and on high sulfur fuel. Think more like 20 on ULSD with the same mods.

he put his truck on cat scales it said 10,207lbs its lifted and on 35"s

nope good ole math got the 25mpg miles divided by gallons.

his wife got a best of 10MPG but with him driving it got 6MPG with the V-10

he uses rotella thats why its 80 dollars he buys it in the 5 gallon drums and yes i forgot to say theres about a gallon or so left over.

i know parts are expensive because ive helped him do brakes wheel hubs ect.

and the 7.3 has alot more head bolts than the 6.0

his mods are CAI, Stright pipe, boost fooler, DP 9 Pos tuner. high flow oil cross over. CCV delete. and a few other small mods.

you sir are a dip ****. i love people that have absolutly no idea. thankyou for being jackass of the day.

i am the son of said person. and the v10 excursion gets **** for mileage. the question wasnt about your crew cab 2wd dually with 4.30s nobodys gives a chit. your tryn to prove a point. so compare apples to apples. with stock tires on it it will get about 25 on the freeway with the wind on its back. but its done it.
