Question Where does the battery ground cable go?? lol!

I'm in the process of upgrading to a heavier ground cable coming off the battery, from the factory size to a 2ga. Where the heck is the other end???
I see that it goes into the wire protector along with the pos. cable, then the protector continues on down by the starter. Along the way a positive(red) wire comes out and goes to the (dist. block?) on the firewall, and a small (ground wire?) breaks out of the protector and bolts to the frame. The ground doesn't go to the starter? Or does it?? I was told getting a larger battery and upgrading my ground cable would help with the minimal light blinking trouble I have with my stereo system. So, where does the other end of the ground bolt on??,,,,98
