Question Installing Factory Fog Light Kit

Need some help on installing the factory fog light kit on a 2002 F-150. I wired it as shown on the wiring diaghram. only problem is when ever i have only the headlights on the fog lamp indicator is lite. I do not even get the fog lamps to come on either when selected. I traced the power & checked everything with a meter. Any one got any ideas??

Is relay energizing?

Did you do the continuity check power off? If so, try energizing the circuit to see if you have 12VDC going where it needs to go.

You are basically dealing with two circuits: One energizes the relay, while the other is the high amp electricity that flows through the relay once it is energized. This is the electricity that comes from the battery to the fog lamps. Think of the relay as a switch that is opened/closed with electricity.

I suspect you are not getting power to the relay.

You sould have not had to run the wires, unless you have a XL, the XLTs have the wiring there. You just need to replace the headlight switch. The plug for the fog lamps are there

Question What about a 97?

Is the wiring there for a 97 as well? I am looking to get the factory fog lights and want to know what I am up against. By the way anyone have any factory fogs for a 97? If so e-mail me.

Cool Thanks.

Do you have to get a new switch even if the switch I have pulls out like the fog light switch? Thanks.

If you buy the Factory Fog Lamp Kit, it has the switch in it. This is the Kit from FORD

Yes you must get a new switch

I have a '99 and even though my switch looked and operated just like the one with the fog light position, the internal contacts are not there to make them work. Everything else in the system should be there if you have the XLT.

my 99 had the plug for the fogs behind the bumper, but did not have the wireing into the dash.now i have a 2002 and the plugs are not run to the core support.dealer has no clue.i have traced the harness and they are not there.but in the 02 the wireing is run into the dash.i ended up wireing them myself with a wireing kit for after market fog lights.

If the plug is there , than the wiring is there. All you have to do is relace the the light switch. I did it and it worked. Good Luck
