I am buying a 2013 xlt that does not have heated rear window or heated side mirrors. I wanted to replace the existing power side mirrors with heated ones. Can I replace the existing ones and use the same wiring harness/plug without additional wires and would I need a switch to control the heat.

 

Youll likely need to run new wires through the harness, door, etc and add a fuse and a switch. Doubt that Ford has any of that already run in a truck thats specd with no heated mirrors and windows.

 

Check your manual and look for a wiring diagram for inside the door. Check and see if its already pre-run by Ford, if it is youll just have to take it from the door to the mirror. But also add a switch.

 

I have an 2013 XLT it has no rear defroster but has heated mirrors. The button for it is below the windshield defrost on the a/c panel. Right below it.
