Remove Cigarette Lighter

I have a '97 f150 and I was wanting to remove the cigarette lighter and put in a USB port in its place. However, I was unsure how to remove it. Can anyone help?

I meant the socket where the lighter fits into. I want to replace that socket with a USB hub.

Really?? Will that work??

I don't think the power supply coming from a USB2 is 12V.

More like 2.2V.

Seems like a step down converter would be needed.

Maybe someone already makes a custom unit for just that purpose that I'm not aware of.

I'm only using the hole that is occupied by that. My head unit will be supplying the power.

Generally speaking the metal bucket slides out of the black plastic ring/bucket, then the black plastic comes out.

They make a "puller" tool but its pricey to use only once

Be sure when you do it to cap off the existing wiring and then I'd check that the cigarette lighter fuse is still OK. It supplies power to the OBDII port too, and you wouldn't want that to be dead.
