Keep blowing fuse

Just came back from the Ford dealer. Told them my cluster keep alive power fuse keeps blowing in my 2006 f150. I told him the windshield leeked a few years ago right where the fuse box is. He said a wire probably has corrosion. He said they would have to replace the whole fuse box, but not totally sure without checking. Is it possible to change just one wire or would the whole thing have to be replaced? He said if there is corrosion the box should be replaced anyway. I don't want the whole thing replaced if that isn't what it is. I don't want to drop over 500 dollars if I don't have to. Thanks!

Are you sure it was the windshield leaking on the passenger side, or could it have been the AC drain TSB ?
- just clarifying, this is the 1st 04-08 MY windshield / fuse panel issue, that was primarily a 97-03 MY issue

Not too sure what replacing the fuse panel is going to do for corrosion on the wire ( that is a wire loom replacement issue, if that is really what is wrong ).

Did you do any modifications to the truck ? aftermarket head unit, take the dash apart for anything ( sat radio ) or the likes ?

The cluster keep alive circuit is a single wire without any connectors from the fuse panel to the cluster.
black w/ light green stripe wire to cluster connector C270F, pin #8.

The winshield leaked like crazy when I first bought the truck a little over four years ago on the passengers side. It would come in pretty heavy when it was raining hard. I had the winshield sealed and I didn't notice anymore water after that. I actually looked today and it is wet under the insulation on the floor. Not nearly as bad as 4 years ago. I can't say for sure that it got on the fuse box or not, but it was leaking in that area. I haven't done any mods at all on the truck. I have never taken the dash apart. That wouldn't be pretty as I don't know much about trucks, haha.
I am just worried about taking it in if they are going to want to put a new fuse box in if there is a little corrosion and have that not be the problem. Thanks alot!

Also, by chance could they tell just by looking at the wire that it needs replacing? If it is the Ac drain causing the water I have now, what would I have to do for that? Thanks alot!

Unless it is obviously damaged ( i.e. missing insulation ) it is hard to tell if a wire is corroded.

You should be able to use a magnifying glass and a small light to check the fuse slot for corrosion. Even if that is corroded, how is it making a connection to ground to blow ( possible but I would not say probable that corrosion is causing a high resistance path and the circuit is blowing due to overload vs short to ground ).

I got the AC drain info in the 2004-2008 subforum, it is AC drain TSB 07-13-5.
If you google site search on AC drain 07-13-5 it should show the threads ( don't know if the site search would find that ).

Seems to recall one of the threads, a member did a DIY TSB modification on it with parts from HD / Lowes.

So you had an issue with it for sure ( by your description ), but if it was sealed correctly, I would have expected it to stop.

just went through this

this went through this myself . after reading your problems I started to dig in to this and with no luck I decided to tackle it from square one .long story short after hours I figured it out. my dome light in the front group over the dash was the problem . the steel leads broke free and was shorting it out .hope this helps you out.

A corroded wire won't cause a fuse to blow! Corroded wire would casue an open circuit and not a short circuit. You need to find a better mechanic!

Do as rodshobbies suggested and look for a shorted wire.
