Don't you want to simply use the tail light circuits?

Unless he wanted them on at all times even when the tail lights are off

There is no switched power back there, closest would probably be the fuel pump, but I wouldn't tap into that

You could tap into the trailer wiring if you don't want to tap into the tail lights themselves...

I think he has this>>>> http://www.plasmaglow.com/firestorm_...ug_controller/

So the op probably needs an ignition switched source for power....

If this is the case, any reason why the trailer tow adapter battery charge circuit can't be used.

This is hot in run only.

I thought of that too, Steve, but when he asked for a "switched wire" it made me think he had NO trailer wiring (7 or 4-pin), so that's why I suggested the tail light circuits. And, doesn't the Plasmaglow bar have backup lights too? If so, he'd need either the 7-pin wiring or wire it to the backup light circuit. A 4-pin connector doesn't provide that functionality.

I think there are three different models of those PG light bars each with varying light functions.....since the OP didn't specifically state which one he was installing .....

you're in the clear Jack.....

Thanks for the replys guys.I guess I wasn't clear,My Fault. I have the factory 7/4 pin trailer connector.I have a plasmaglow lightbar and I also bought the 4 pin converter.I need the 4 pin converter so I don't have to tap into the front signal lights.too much trouble....I talked to plasmaglow and need a separate 12 volt to power the 4 pin converter which is a purple wire It must be a separate wire.
I tested the 7 pin socket and did not find a hot wire without turning the lights on.There for the light bar would't work without turning the lights on like during the day
What I need is a hot wire that is on whenever the key is on whether or not the lights are on.I hope this clears things up a bit....Thanks again for the replys.....Jim Please reply to jamesciampi@verizon.net

The e-trailer link (I'm familiar with it) should help. The switched +12V (battery charging pin) is normally at the 1:O'clock position as you look at the trailer plug from the rear of the truck. The ground pin is at 7:O'clock. They will both be fed by the heaviest wires in the harness. I only mention this because the diagrams in e-trailer can be confusing at times. (Are they showing the pin side or the wire side of the diagram?)

From the Ford Trailer Tow adapter install directions.

This is looking at the face of the 7 pin trailer tow adapter ( looking from the rear of the truck towards the front )
