Hid hi/lo beam question and fog light mod

Are the Hi/Lo HID PNP kits actually functional as far as switching from low to high beams?

Also is there some kind of mod to make the fogs stay on when high beams are on. There was one on the old contour svt i had and loved it but was wondering if anyone had done this on the f150. my truck is a 06 fx4 btw

First off, why didn't you post in the illumination and lighting forum?

And no, PNP kits do not mimic true high/low functionality. A true bihalogen bulb has two filament, high and low. The high beam is the focal centerpoint of the reflector. The low beam is offset to the left (radially) and high (axially) so when reflected, it is aimed low and to the right (out of oncoming drivers eyes).

PnP HID kits use a magnet to pull the bulb backwards. So basically all you have is a dual high-beam. They are dangerous and people who use them are complete tools.

As for the fog mod, you can look up Bambi mod I believe it is. People commonly believe this will aid them and give them more light, but I advise against it- your fog lights turn off when you have your high beams on for a reason, so your eyes focus down the road, not on the foreground. I have my fogs on a separate switch and sometimes wish they were on the OEM relay because I find myself turning them off when I go to high-beams.

I can answer the 2nd question, so you can do the modification you want to your truck :

https://www.f150online.com/forums/el...aybe-04-a.html

This thread has 2 ways of doing the mod with the modified wiring diagrams.

The HID kit, sorry I cannot help there, I don't use them myself, and know very little about them by design

This forum is just as applicable for your thread at the L&L or 2004-2008 forum, no rule on why one is better than the other.
