1998 instrument cluster light problem
1998 instrument cluster light problem
One of my dash lights has been out for a while. Another one went out so I decided to take the cluster out and replace the bulbs. One of them worked no problem. The other one did not work. I switched the socket with the new bulb and still, no light. I don't know if it helps, but it's the bulb next to the theft lamp. Any ideas on a fix??
Don't feel bad, it happens.
Thank you for reporting back the solution to the issue, the next member that has a brain lockup will appreciate the info on what to look at.
I know I have done more than my fair share of stupid stuff.
I was trying to think of what to look at, I know it had me scratching both ends to get someone useful to suggest.

My next older brother was a self employed Civil Engineer. (owned his own earth moving company, though he did a lot more than just move earth). Mostly bridge and road contracts. He once said "all knowledge is an ultimate accumulation of trial and error". You try something and it works, goes in the "do this" file. Try something and it doesn't work, goes in the "don't do this" file. When your files get big enough, you can use that knowledge to extrapolate the likely answer, but it still all came from "trial and error". Look at the mistakes the highly educated and supposedly "brilliant" make, and looks like the "trial and error" is still in play! I would a whole lot rather learn from someone else's mistakes than my own, but learning from our own keeps us from getting too full of ourselves, I hope.
By the way, my brother graduated in the top 3% of his class of 2700 at University of Illinois, and though he wasn't used to making mistakes, I'm sure he did, and also sure he learned from them.
He was about as down to earth as they come.

Some days I feel like I do nothing but learn..
Best I can hope for at this time of the day is to paraphrase it ( Sir Francis Bacon I think - can't even get that to fall out of my head )

I love to learn, try never to take credit for someone else's "wisdom" and just wish more of what I learn came from my brilliance
than my "trial and ERROR" (read fail). Good thing I learned a long time ago to laugh at myself, lest someone else do it for me!
Once again, giving credit where credit is due, thank you Steve for being such a valuable contributor to this forum.
