'04 mirrors not working
Thank You
I just want to thank all of you for you discussion on this topic. Yesterday I read through the posts and gained a few ideas about why my mirrors were not working. I also wanted to share my experience so that maybe it might help someone else. Here is what I did.
First I checked my fuse and had good power. Next I went to the switch and checked the orange wire with green tracer and found I did not have power at the switch plug at the drivers door control panel. I then removed the interior panel that surrounds the fuse box. I also removed the interior cover on the passenger side that covers the wire loom raceway. I began to seperate the wires in the loom in hopes of finding the Orange/green wire. I found this wire relatively quickly. I continued to seperate the loom while working my way towards the fuse box isolating the orange/green wire the whole way. I found a section of the orange/green wire just below the fuse box. I probed this wire with a test light and found it had power. I tested the wire farther down towards the "B pillar" and found that I had no power in the same wire. I began to probe the wire occasionally working my way back towards the fuse box. I finally came to identify a point in the wire where the problem was. What I found was a place where that wire had previously been probed with a test light. That light probe spot had collected water over time and the wire inside corroded. This was my point where I lost power. I am not sure when this wire would have been probed because I have never had these wires exposed in the four years I have had the truck. I makes me wonder how many other wires in that raceway have been probed and are waiting to corrode?
I cut out the bad section and put in a new piece of wire. I taped up all of my spots that I probed my orange/green wire during my diagnosis work to prevent future issues. I taped my loom back together and reinstalled all of my interior pieces. My mirrors work prefectly once again. Thank you all once again for your posts, through those I was able to fix my truck and probably save myself a few hundred dollars in diagnostic time at my Ford dealership.

Ugh guys help me haha. I have an 04 xlt same issue. I HAVE power on pin 1 and 3. The switch tested Ok with the continuity test. I'm at a loss now, could really use some help. Where would it be broken now? With a 2 y/o being a daddy's boy finding time to find this issue is rare haha.
