power mirrors & driver seat not working
I was involved in this issue months ago but wanted to double check with you guys. I can't even afford a 90.00 an hour look at charge.
'04 super crew lariat. Both power mirrors won't work and driver power seat and pedals nada. passenger seat ok.
i checked fuse 3 and also 109 but not with a meter. both look ok. i'm tired of not having these mirrors and my seat not working. i guess check the switch on the driver door like you guys stated. will need to take the panel off but following the directions on testing has be wondering if i can do it. i have a multi-meter but which setting on the dial should i be setting the meter to?

I would look more to the driver's side door sill for a broken wire
Here is a thread that describes the location.

Followup to rear mirrors not working
Sure hope someone can help since I cannot afford the hourly rate at my Ford dealer. My problem appears to be similar to bluegrizzly's problem.
I have a 2004 SCREW Lariat. Both power mirrors do not work. However, the memory for the power seats does work. These functions are on the same fuse.
Fuse #3 checks out OK (I checked it with a meter).
Then I examined the switch that controlled the power mirrors. The orange wire w/ light green tracer does not indicate any voltage. I unplugged it from the switch in case the switch was causing the problem but still no voltage to the connector. Since I know the fuse is OK and since I have no voltage to the wire into the switch I assume the problem is the wiring between the power mirror switch and fuse box.
I saw a lot of talk on the forum about a possible splice of this wire in the wiring race along the drivers side. While I found the orange/lt green tracer wire I found no splice. But I did find the orange/lt green wire in the large connector by the hood release on the drivers side. So I measured the voltage at the connector.
Here's where it gets interesting. I was expecting to see 12V on this wire but instead it read just 6V. I disconnected the connector from its male/female mate in an effort to eliminate any short but once again measured just 6V.
I then created a jumper from this connector to the switch and "voila", the mirrors moved verrrry slowly. I thought they moived slowly because the truck was not running. But when I start the truck the voltage only goes from 6V to 7V and the mirror movement is still pretty slow. Maybe its always been that way and I'm just getting too old and forgetful.
Q1. Is it possible the rear mirror motors are 6V motors?
I know the source for the orange/lt green tracer wire is from the fuse box.
Q2. But once the orange/lt green tracer wire leaves the fuse box, where does it go? Does it go up and through the dashboard or does it follow the wiring races along the floor?
The break in the wire must be somewhere between the connector on the drivers side and the switch in the door, but I have torn the door apart and found no signs where there could be any abrasion or a break.
But I am particulary concerned that the voltage reading was just 6V when I expected to see 12V. That just doesn't sound right to me.
As far as finding a break in the wire, well I guess I now have something to do this weekend.
Any help would be appreciated. This forum has already been VERY helpful!

Can anyone tell me where I can get an electrical schematic of the rear power window mirrors AND the circuit for power seat memory module?
Also, I understand there is a splice of the hot lead (orange with light green tracer) for both circuits but I have been unable to locate the splice.
The power seat memory works OK, but the rear power window mirrors do not.

Not too sure where you got the wire color at, the broken splice in the driver's side door sill ( towards the c-pillar ) is a purple wire on the SCrews to date.

I have had the same issue on my 04. I had a similar problem with my window switch, so I took it apart and cleaned the contacts. I am probably going to do the same with the mirror switch this weekend.
This forum rocks!
I had been having a problem where my power rear mirrors on my 2004 SCREW had stopped working. The fuse (fuse #3) was OK. In the process of working on this problem, the power seats and power pedals also stopped working. The following thread led me directly to my problem and saved me a lot of $$ from having a dealer diagnose and fix the problem.

The problem was a bad splice on an Orange w/ Light Green tracer wire. The bad splice is located under the fuse box on the pasenger side. It's accessable if you remove the panel over the fuse box, the passenger side kick panel, and the cover that runs along the floorboard covering the wire raceway (you step on this cover everytime you enter the vehicle). There is a Orange w/ Light Green tracer wire that has a factory splice that was corroded from water. The wire connections had turned green and when untaped literally fell apart. The wire was located just as it enters a wiring channel. It is at the bottom of the bundle of wires and was a little difficult to find. It was the only wire in this area that was wrapped in electrical tape. I cut out the bad wire and soldered in a new wire. Now everything works beautifully!
Thanks for everyones help! Scully your wiring diagrams were awesome! Thanks!

Thanks SSCULLY and heliman
Between the two of you you have saved me from having to go back to dealership and having the same response of we are still working on it. The first on was the broken splice on drivers side where the purple wire was broke. I looked it up on here and got the run around from the dealership until i blew up at them and they did what you said and got it back to me seven days later. The second time was the mirrors stopped adjusting and it was the orange wire right where you said it would be "heliman". soldered it to gether in a splice.I hope that the bean counter that decided that it was a good idea to splice where moisture collects and using that cloth electrical tape can sleep well at night. I told the dealership I hope they are good at what they do fix because they sure didn't help me very well. I fixed the orange wire myself in 30 minutes, way better than 7 days at the dealership. So thanks a bunch guys
power mirrors not working
I've been reading through this post and others as well. i have an 05 king ranch and the power mirrios just quit working the fold however is working fine. I've checked my wiring and have not been able ti see any water or corrosion. is it possible that the switch is bad but the fold function still works.

The up / down & In / out parts no longer work ?
That could be a problem with the mirror select part of the switch ( turn to right or left ).
The other items on the door work fine ( pwr window, door ajar indicator, etc ) ?
yes everything else on the door is working fine, the mirrors fold in but do not adjust otherwise.
Yes I agree with Scully. I would removing the connector to the switch and test the switch for continuity. Hopefully you have a wiring diagram so you can tell what contacts on the switch should be open and closed. Good luck!
