jggr, do you know where the line comes through the firewall or where it is connected to the intake? I've not noticed anything about the heater controls not working right but then I just leave it on automatic and let it do it's thing. I don't know how much of a leak it'd take but if I can just vise-grip the hose I can eliminate it as a cause.

Check your PCV system for leaks. From the valve covers to the throttle body and to the air inlet. Your system has two sides. One to allow air into the driver side valve cover and one to suck oily fumes out on the passenger side.

No sir I'm afraid I don't know. However if your heater/ac isn't blowing out of the defrost vents all the time, then that isn't your issue. The defrost vent is the default position for the blend door operation.

I think JMC is on the right track with the PCV system.

Can't see the PCV being the problem, the lines are in place and look fine. Might cause it to run rich if it was clogged up but I've got the opposite problem, it's running lean.

If it's sucking extra air in through a faulty PCV syster it will run lean.

Lean condition is usually causer by having an air leak after the MAF. So all the vac lines/power booster, and PCV/evap system can be suspect.

I'll look into that. In the meantime, it's possible the rough idle and the vibration at cruise could be unrelated. I've heard there is a "judder" type problem associated with the transmission torque converter or TCC and that the remedy is a fluid/filter change and an additive of some sort. Anybody able to shed some light on that?
