Back up camera and the ford lock pick

I have a factory nav unit and I already have a back up camera in my mirror but would like to see it on my nav screen. If I buy the ford lock pick for my unit and buy a back up camera, is it just plug and play into the lock pick or do I still have to tap into the reverse lights?

Can't you route the existing camera to the NAV unit? That's what I'd try.

You'll have to power an aftermarket camera somehow. It's common to power it from the reverse light circuit since you don't really want it on when you're driving forward (normally). You're also going to have to bring the video feed (normally just a cable terminating in an RCA plug) from the camera up to the NAV unit.

I was thinking about that, but I would not feel comfortable doing that myself. Think a car audio place could do that?

Wouldn't hurt to ask. I think a "competent" technician could do it easily - the trick is finding one.
