power windows

power windows

I just picked up this 89 F150 and the power window will work when I push the window switch even with the ign off is that the way they where then

No. Are the power windows the only thing that work, that shouldn't work when the switch is off?

Someone must have gotten creative with the wiring. Do both windows work in both directions with the key off?

the radio work but it is a after market one and he must have it wired on the hot side of the fuse box

yes they do, I'm going to put the door panal off today to check the wirging I just have not had the time to do it, plus it my be why me battery is being drain down

It's possible the window wire (key-switched) is crossed to the lock wire (always hot) in the door or under the dash. The colors should be the same as these diagrams:

Steve, should the lite blue be hot all the time, mine is hot when the ign. is off, or a bad fuse, I have power on the one side of the fuse box but not the other with the fuse out and no power at the switch but with the fuse in I have power to the switch

my wipers do work with the ign. off could it be a bad ign. switch or maybe they have the actuator rod set wrong in the switch when they replaced it, is that possible

I got it the idiot that I got the truck from had the radio wired up wrong he had it wired in the wiring harness where the factory radio goes and two differant hot wires tied together

Guess he wanted redundant fuses on them

So does that mean with 24 V going in, the wattage to the speakers is 2x ?

What was I thinking, it is the same battery, of course it is 2x the current.

I was just begin stupid thinking it was 24 v

he sure did not know what he was doing, all it took was a little research and a volt meter, now everything works like it should, now all I need to do is fix the power door locks he took out the actuator on the driver side and not sure if there is one on the passenger side I need to remove the panel to see and then replace the window motor on the passinger side, Thanks for all the help P.S. I my need some help locating where the actuator goes, the book I have is junk
