Does the truck have a hard time starting like cranking over slowely like the battery is going bad.. i wonder if its possible to have power drop so bad when starting it would cause the stereo. Im not really sure. As far as stereos go they have the B+ wire that supply's power to the deck to keep the memory and the ignition wire is what tells it to turn on. If the B+ wire came undone it could cause the radio to reset itself altho i dont know how likely that is on a stock stereo, i have always replaced mine right away with aftermarket systems.

Not too sure how frequent "almost at every cold start" is.

With it being the factory battery, might want to try a basic check with a meter to see what the level is after sitting over night ( prior to starting )

Also would not hurt to know what the level is after starting the truck ( key from off to start, as soon as the truck is running, turn back to off and check with a meter ).

This is a quick test, and would not tell as much as a real load test on the battery, that is a full charge and apply a load based upon the battery amp specs.

Considering it is not every time, I would not suspect it to be an issue with the KAM fuse ( fuse #31 ) to the radio, that should be a case of all the time if it was blown.
Maybe try pulling and reseating it to see if it is loose in the socket ?
Did you happen to add a fuse to the truck in that slot ?

The truck turns on ok but I do get a sense of possible battery issue since it does it only in 40 to 50 degree mornings and nights,,its the stock radio and i have never messed with the wiring. @sscully i have never added fuses but i'll check the battery with those quick meter tests, thanx guys for ur thoughts...

It is your battery, I had the same problem last year in my truck. Replaced the battery and the problem went away.

Same issue here and just replaced battery last week. No more issues with radio now.
