Question strange electrical faults

ok so i read the sticky on the door latch and relays...posted in there, but i think there is going to me more to it. girlfriend has a 05 explorer, 4.0 v6. here is whats going on with it. and btw shes not home from work yet so i havent had a chance to look at it personally.

-interior lights not turning on/off automatically. she can use the switch, and they go on/off with her command only
-power mirrors not working
-door ajar light
-power lock switch on door not working (fob operates them just fine)
-no puddle lights when trucks unlocked..or ever for that matter...
-horn is honking 2x now, where it only honked once before when alarm is armed by fob

plan on trying the door latch trick later this evening..but i want to get some opinions from yall because i feel like its a bigger issue than a latch or relay.

THANKS, Stu

You need to clean the gunk out of the door switch, if you use a heavy lube, it will not float the dirt out of the switch, it will just trap it.
That is the real reason for the WD-40, is to clean the dirt out of the door latch.

What is alarm installed ? ( the 2x honk might be an indicator that the door is open ).

Could be a few other things, a splice in the driver's side door sill or a loose ground on the VSM, if the symptoms follow the similar symptoms that the F-150 has.

bought contact cleaner to clean it out...breaks gunk up pretty good. thanks for the link...seems like a good place to look. BTW its the factory keyless entry. 2 honks has been an issue longer than the door ajar light...i think. Its raining here so ill see what i can do this evening, she should be home in 10 minutes or so, will update after. Thanks

tried cleaning out the door latches with no luck....started messing with the wires under the sill cover and got the pass. side puddle light to come on so im assuming the drivers side works but is just blown..? Asked her more questions, and she says at night she keeps the dimmer switch off but then she has no dash lights, but after driving a minute or two she can turn the dimmer on and all dome lights are OFF but then she has to turn the dimmer back to the off position when she opens her doors or the dome stays on again. Radio also DOES turn off by itself.

Got dark on me quick so I will have to look some more tomorrow or this weekend...need to check some fuses still as well. Acc delay fuse(60a) is good...thats about as far as i got till the dinner bell rang.........

EDIT: i tried the radio myself...turns off when i turn the key off. she swears up and down that it works because when she gets to work it stays ON when she shuts off the exploder. This probally ties in with what i said above about her being able to turn her dimmer back to auto after she drives a little bit. wanted to pull the door harnesses but she has the boots and not the plugs so no luck tonight folks. ANY IDEAS??? Its gonna drive me nuts soon enough

i almost forgot....pulled the #17 fuse - delayed acc. relay coil/batt saver coil/reading & glove box lamps...reading lights turned off....delayed acc relay made and broke connection(is it normally open or closed?) but the dome lights stayed on. power mirror fuse is ok but they still dont work, and i cant find a fuse for the power locks listed in the manual anywhere

I FIXED IT!! to those who offered their thoughts...or for what its worth, if anyone has a family member with an explorer....this is what i did....

seems to be a common problem with these. i did what many would have shouted at me to do and used the search button..but on an explorer forum. should have done this first, there are tons of these with the same exact symptoms and the same exact fix.
Explorer door ajar(and other problems) fix!
sorry for crappy pics...its dark out so i had a head lamp on and using a cell phone...

this is the broken black ground in the actual door jam

this is the other half inside of the door

here you can see i spliced about a 6" piece of wire to connect the two(long for the sake of making it easy)

i then covered both splices with rubber splicing tape...then electrical tape on top of that

every issue i had posted in first post is fixed..!
