Auxiliary battery installed

I needed to install a JLT ram air intake. this gave me the room to install my battery under the hood.

1. JLT Ram Air
2. Optima yellow top battery
3. Battery Tray
4. Solenoid - Isolator
5. Junction block (Ford Factory)
6. Hardware--- #4, #10, #14 wire, Wire terminals, wire insulator or wire wrap, various nut and bolts, Positive and negative battery cable

What no thoughts?

just think no box taking up my bed space.

I can enjoy my sound system without worry the truck will still start.
I made the Nav ,dvd, blue tooth unit constant power I can finish that phone call and still turn my engine off. the kids can still watch the movie while I run and get a coffee at the am pm while on a trip. I can fill my tires back up with the truck off and not worry. so many cool things are better.

very cool. I have seen the dual optimas in the factory location and somewhat like that better but yours looks clean non-the-less.
Post up diagrams of your isolator/solenoid wiring.
And the junction block, where your red fused wires are coming off, you say thats factory? I dont think i have ever seen one there on mine, but then again i have never looked.

The Junction block was a factory block that had come with my F350 back in
the late 80's so it can be bought from Ford.
I would like to se how the Dual optimas fit in the stock battery spot.

the wiring is simple?

Once the Solenoid was mounted on the firewall I made two cables #4awg
one from one battery to the solenoid and another from the other battery to the solenoid.
on the solenoid there are 4 post two large and two smaller post.
the two large post (right & left sides) is where I hooked up the 4awg wire from each batt.

the two smaller post were for power and grnd.
hook a ground to one of the smaller post and hook your power source (key in run position) to the other post.

Make shure that the new battery is grounded to the block and the body. one ground isn't good enough.

I ran an #4awg wire to the junction block as my power feed wire.

oh ok, i was a bit confused for a sec there on the solenoid but now i realize the pic of the solenoid is BEFORE you ran the wires lol. I follow now.
So the spare batt is isolated and running the distro-block when the truck engine is off, but once on, the batt is connected/charging via the soleniod correct?
Also get a part number for that junction block, i like that stock look with that many available slots. I have used some older chevy ones before but they only had two slots.

and heres Styxnpicks dual optimas

Just one pic and he doesnt go into much detail on how he made the tray but it looks very easy to do.

that is nice! I would guess that you took out the stock batt tray and fit something different in it's place.

so if I was to add a third Batt just for the winch and Additional lights. I would probably need to increase my charge to a 200 amp alt. but all should be fine.

On the Junction block. It had sat in my tool box for years. I don't know the part #
BUt when I put the aux battery in my 1985 F350. I got all the parts from Ford including the brkts, Solenoid, Junction block. Wire etc.
there was no kit. I just looked at the microfish and got what I needed. I also did the same on My 1990 F250 Lariat. so I would go to the dealer and check.
