Power lock switch on the driver side will lock passenger side but wont unlock

yea it sounds like its a driver side lock button issue. you can clean the contacts, I have taken the switches apart and its pretty straight forward but once completely apart there are a few parts in there. It may be less hassle to just replace the lock switch. It runs from 12-17 bucks at your dealer.
The only part that gets me is that the locks are pretty much in tandem. If the driver side is unlocking the drivers door and not unlocking the pass side door there may be another problem as the door locks on BOTH sides run to the BSM (body security module) THEN out to the locks themselves. IF one side, say pass side button, sends signal to the BSM to unlock then it would be exactly the same signal to unlock the pass and driver doors, as well as the drivers side sending the signal to unlock. This is coming from an 06 wiring book though, it may be slightly different from the 04s. I would try the switch first.
