Any info on ACTUAL sending units for gauges
I am WORRIED now about the sending units for gauges (temp & oil pressure) being simple on/off switches.
With the small radiator and living in AZ, I like to watch my gauges. Plus being a Crime Scene Tech, my truck sits and idles, with the air on just like the squads at the scene's do.
So if anyone knows of after-market sending units, that will make the guages read actually pressures and temps, I would truly be interested in the info.

I was thinking about this yesterday, I hear that the temp and oil senders are just on and off.
I was looking for a noise in the front of my engine so I pulled off the belt and started looking for the bad pully. I started the engine & the phone rang so I went to get it-the truck is still running-when I came back I went to see if the truck was getting warm--the guage was almost pegged. Mine is a 98 so maybe its the newer trucks that are just on & off.

Temp is real, oil is on /off. Someone else tested the temp with an aftermarket gauge and found that it follows the factory one. Do a search on gauges. Supposedly on Ford-diesel.com they discussed a solution to the oil sender problem but I couldn't find it.
XTRUKY love that paint job, great looking truck! I am leaning towards the truck master designs dam myself.

OK Guys This can't be that hard to fix for us 99-and up owners. If you have ever put your Gauges into test mode you would know what i am talking about. IF 0 means you have oil pressure "put Needle half way UP" and 255 means zero oil pressure "Put needle in low down" , then all we need is to find a variable oil sending unit that shows 0(computer language) as being 100psi. Install That new Sensor, and then find SOMEONE who can REPROGRAM our Gauges To Reflect This!!!!!!!! So What i am saying is all hope is not lost. We Just Need to find that certain SOMEONE who has the resoures to reprogram our dashes!!!! AND A SENSOR

The sensor would need to be a variable resistor that generates the linear values needed or in conjunction with a resistor in series. If any one has any experience with different oil sensors let us know. The sensor that is in the truck now is a switch. They do not "speak computer", there is an A/D converter in the ECU to take the resistance change and use it in its calculations or send to the dash.
