Question '98 door switches & pwr door locks

I'm thinking (oh oh) about adding a switch to trick the GEM into thinking that the doors are closed. Then the chimes and int. lights will stay off when I need them off, like when listening to tunes with the door open. BTW, although my truck doesn't have factory door locks (adding 'em now) but is the wiring already there ? Too cold here to pull the panels just to check. (I just know sumpin's gonna break !) My Haynes manual schematics don't show the door switches anywhere. Thanks in advance for any help !

more to come !

Oh yeah, special factory options : Door cracks !

Just out of my experience I have found that Ford wires every truck for their top option. Mom's 97 Explorer had wiring for a phone and my 2001 Supercrew has wiring for a CD changer. Both of which wheren't with these options but still the wiring is there. Other than that sorry I am of no use.

Thanks SCCATow, at least I know now. My next question was "how to get the handle off", but you read my mind ! Well, back to my original plan and run the wires after all. (all this so I don't have to lean over to unlock a door !...yeesh)

My 97 XL wasn't wired for power windows/locks/mirrors. Sorry to break it to you.

BTW, the door panels are very easy to remove... they just lift UP once you remove the pull hadle, window crank, and two trim pieces (these just pull off). The window crank is a little different... it has an outer trim piece which snaps off partially to expose a Torx screw.... not the usual spring clip affair.

Actually, I think jimmar is right... I don't think that power locks, windows or mirrors are an option on the XL are they? If you are looking at an XLT, it should have all the wiring... the relays and fuses may not be installed but the wiring should be
