Post keyless lock door handles

Has anyone retro fitted the driver's door handle with the keypad for keyless entry?

I need to know if this is possible and the appropriate part numbers/cost and how much hassle this is to install. Tried to get info from the local Ford parts counter but didn't have too much luck.

Complete instructions are at:
http://www.scomm.net/~smithm/index2.html

Click on the letter "K", for keyless.

RBurton, Tried to get the instructions from the site you mentioned but was unable to connect. Experience indicates that it could be spelled incorrectly. Is this true or has the site shut down. Thanx, Dennis.

Kelly, Thanks for the link. Went to it and found it to be very informative. Can't get back to it now though. It looks like scrambled eggs. Few questions. Do all F150's have the required computor module allready in place? Does this work for a 98 Lariat? Is the handle sold in color or does it need to be painted? TIA, Dennis.

Lariat'sRUs,

Send me an e-mail - kelly@fordf150.net - with details on the problem you were having viewing my site, and I'll try to help!

As far as I know, only F-150's with the remote keyless entry from the factory have the necessary RAP module. That's because there is a 5 digit code on it that is the unlock code for the keypad.

This is from part 2 of the article:
The part number for the keypad is YL3Z-14A6266-AA, and the number for the handle is as follows: XL1Z-7822405-BAK Silver (YN), XL1Z-7822405-DAB Red (E4), XL1Z-7822405-BAJ White (Y0), XL1Z-7822405-BAH Black (UA).
The dealer would be able to confirm these codes for sure.

Question

Okay, Let's try another approach on this one. I'm confident someone out here has built them a hotrod and put the keypads on it. Found a similar product at 12volt.com which you place an object on the window that senses a predetermined code and unlucks the doors. Any other sites with similar keypads that may be retrofitted like original equipment? Thanks, Dennis
