Question How can I tell if I have keyless entry?

I recently purchased a 1999 XLT used. It has all available options except for power seats. Is there any way to tell if it is equipped with a keyless entry system? It came with everything else so I was wondering if it had it and the dealer wasnt aware of it. Thanks

Good question...I am not sure how you would test it to see unless you knew where to look for the keyless remote main box.

Most likely the dealer would have given you two remotes for the keyless entry system if it had it. It is not standard on the XLT and is a $150.00 option.

Have you tried the dealership service department for help??

Try going to a Ford dealer, ask them if you can borrow a keyless entry remote. Then see if it will accept a program from the truck, if it does buy it. If I remember correctly you turn the key a few times, till the doors lock and that should program it, but the instructions should be in the owners manual.

Cool

If there is a white control box behind the emergency brake on the fire wall with 5 numbers on it you more then likely have it.

BUDMAN,
LOOK UP JC WHITNEY ONLINE AND ORDER A CATALOG FROM THEM. A COWORKER BOUGHT A KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM FROM THEM FOR HIS MINIVAN FOR $30 OR SO DOLLARS AND IT JUST PLUGGED INTO THE FACTORY HARNESS PROVIDED FOR HIS VAN. GIVE IT A TRY ITS ALOT BETTER THAN THE $150 OR MORE THE DEALER WILL WANT. ALSO CHECK LOCAL RADIO STORES THEY HAVE SIMULAR KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEMS FOR THE TRUCK ALSO. GOOD LUCK
