Post Transponder

I'm going to try to post a picture for those of you who have ever wondered what the transponder in your key head looks like.

It's not an extremely detailed picture. On the left side is a very fine coiled copper wire around a rod. This produces just enough current to power the circut board on the right when it gets a signal from the vehicle's computer via the small wire antenna that is routed up the steering column and wraps around the ignition lock housing. Once the circut board is energized it sends it's encripted code back to the computer through the same antenna. The transponder doesn't have it's own power source. It gets just enough power from the radio signal from the computer to send it's code back one time. It will remain dormant until it recieves a signal the next time. Pretty cool, huh?

Oh, these things are about 15/16" long and just over 1/8" in diameter.
