Post door ajar

My door ajar alarm (and dome light)stays on even after closing the driver's side door when it is warm in the cab. If it is cold in the cab the problem goes away. Only the driver's side door causes the problem. Is there a fuse I can disconnect to turn off the constant BONGING until I can locate the problem. I think the door ajar alarm relay is the fault. Anyone else had this problem?

Welcome to F-150online!

This topic seems to be common lately. If I remember correctly...the problem seems to be a faulty switch that is not being triggered when the door is closed.

Try a <search> on this topic for more info...there are some detailed discussions on this.

Good luck!

Spray inside the door latch with some carb or brake cleaner (the part that hits the strike) this is where dome light switch is, this worked for me. If that doesnt work there is a relay in fuse box you can pull, I believe its on the top left of fuse box. If you pull relay door ajar light will stay on but dome light will not.

If you spray WD-40 into the door latch assembly on the door edge and really soak it good your door ajar problem should go away. I went for weeks thinking it was the alarm relay sticking but this simple fix (thanks to someone else on this board)was all that was needed.

Cool

I've done the WD-40 trick at work a couple times, and saved people repair bills, and have done it on my brothers Ranger. Since spraying my brothers Ranger several months ago, he has had NO problems with it. I reccomend spraying the door latch periodically with WD. Like every oil change would be a good idea, and it will keep it working like new longer.
