Question factory alarm phantom fault

I have a 2008 F150 FX4 with keyless entry. Two days ago it set off the alarm for no apparent reason while it was sitting in my garage (truck was unlocked and the key was not in the ignition). This repeated the next night. Last night in about 2.5 hours it did it four more times. I pressed the panic button on the remote one time to turn it off and turned the ignition key to ON one time to turn it off. I locked the doors and it went off again. I am assuming there it a short (tied down wire possibly). The truck is 18 months old with about 17K miles and, as far as I know, has never done this until the last couple of days. I have done no aftermarket upgrades to the truck. Any ideas?
Is there any way to turn the system off so it doesn’t run down my battery until I get it fixed. Thanks for the help.

Is it the factory RKE, or the Ford Gold system ( RKE, RMST, and alarm ) ?

If it is not a Ford item, do you have the brand.

The factory RKE system does not have an alarm feature to it.

I have no idea what a RKE is… perhaps I stated this incorrectly: the “panic type feature” (lights flashing, horn honking) is what I am talking about. The unit has the flashing red light on the left side of the IP like the old theft light that used to be in the cluster. YES, everything is factory.

RKE = Remote Keyless entry.

If you are having a phantom with this, might want to check the RKE fobs, this is the only thing that would cause the panic alarm / car finder feature to be activated.

I actually took those contacts out of my RKE fobs, as I key accidentally leaning up against something with my keys in my pocket setting off the alarm.

If it happens with any kind of regularity might want to pull the batteries from the RKE fobs, and see if it still happens.

thanks for the the reply. I'll try pulling the fob batteries and see if it sill happens (I got the battery in the truck unhooked right now, because it kept doing it last night). thanks again.

I've certainly set off the panic alarm with my key fob in my pocket. I don't even have to be leaning against something. I think just the pressure of something like a key against the button does it.

However, I suspect there IS a fault in your fob perhaps that's causing this. Wouldn't that be covered under warranty? Maybe you could get a replacement fob for free.
