should i replace the switch????

I recently started to notice that when i go and press my window switch(driver side) it dosent work. i have to press and release at least three times for the window to go up. All my other switches work fine?? I recently put in-channel visors in could this be the problem, but if it is shouldnt it affect all my switches. any advice would be great

In my opinion, you probably need to clean the switch contacts. I posted a "how-to" on how to repair the LEDs in the things here: https://www.f150online.com/forums/ar...-switches.html

If you sort of ignore the information on fixing the LEDs, you'll see I mention the contacts in the switches themselves. SSCULLY, added a post where he showed the driver's switch opened up and he noted the same corrosion on the switch contacts there.

I suspect if you clean these contacts off, everything will work fine. The reason you're seeing it in the driver's side, is because that's the one that's used the most.

Probably just blackened contacts on the switch.

In the Technical Articles section is a how to on replacing the LEDs in the switches. This also shows the switch apart and what to clean

The Technical Articles menu item ( brown-ish gray menu bar, just below the tag line "The unofficial resource for Ford Truck enthusiasts" ) is a link to the How-To forum.

There is only 2 pages, so it should be easy to find.

Don't be shocked, I already replaced my switch in my '06 ( driver's side master switch ), due to the same problem. Would not roll up without mashing on it, but would roll down just fine.

I replaced mine, pulled the old switch apart for the How-To. Would have been real easy to take it apart and clean it.

In the thread referenced above, Jack used a typewriter eraser to clean the contacts.

I used a pick, which did damage to the contact, but I was really showing the amount of carbon build up.

I even think emery paper might have been too much, and difficult to get in there.

Spray contact cleaner might not do much for it, but I did not try that, that is just a SWAG from the pick usage on the contacts.

I was attempting to take mine apart but wasn't sure if the switch caps came off or not. Once I read the post and saw the pictures it was easy. Just a note though: if you have the big switch with all four windows and the window lock rocker, you do not need to take the window lock switch off. I snapped mine trying to do so. The good thing is when I get extra money to buy one I will have a lot of extra pins I used a pencil eraser on the contacts. Works like a champ.

Sorry 07FX4, I must have been daydreaming for the last month. I did not see your question. SSCULLY, glad you didn't go get that coffee!

Were you able to get the window working properly again?

And Falcon, thanks for your great addition! The typewriter eraser trick was something I learned back in the 60's, to clean brass relay contacts. I think these contacts are silver and they probably don't need the higher abrasiveness that a typewriter eraser gives.
