As long as you are using a relay to power the HID fog lamps, and the headlamp wire to trigger the relay, you are fine.

I would have thought the HID fog lamp kit came with it.

If not, any Autozone or Napa or similar would have a standard Auto / Bosch relay.

The usage is similar to this drawing

Difference being

1. pin 87 on the relay is attached to the HID fog lamp ballast, not the light itself.

2. The switch attached to pin 85 is from the headlamp ( hi or lo, which ever you choose ).

Hope this helps

I am not sure, I would guess that to be the ballast.
You have not provided a manufacture of the HID kit, or a URL to the instructions to know for sure.

ok well heres another thing. my new headlights i got need a 9006 bulb so i went to autozone and bought something that i could wire to my headlight wires and cut the stock one off and connect the new 9006 connector to it but the stock one has three wires running to it and the one i bought only has two... what can i do about this? idk what the three wires mean or which ones i would need.

The headlamp bulb in the truck has a low and high beam element.

the 3 wires are for that setup :
1. Low beam circuit
2. High beam circuit
3. Ground

Not sure what you have for headlamps, but the 9006 bulb is a single element, so you are going to be without high beams.

Well the lights are projector lights so I don't really need high beams. But in that case if I just don't hook up the high beams and leave it hanging ill be fine?

Rather then cut off the factory ends, you really should make a conversion pigtail. Makes it a bit easier to go back to factory later.

If you don't need high beams, might want to watch how annoying they are to traffic, don't need to make a LEO take a closer look at you.

If you already clipped them, bind end tape the ends ( so the wire does not get trashed ) and pull the high beam fuse.

How do you make a pigtail? And stupid question maybe but are low beams or high beams the ones that are always on?

You could do it with a 9006 pigtail.

Autozone has the junk "wiring harness upgrade" but they are just male to female extensions. I think they have 9006 ones at the store.

If not, you can buy the parts to make a H13 to 9006 one here :

The male side, cut the connector apart, without damaging the pins. These you can insert into the bulb connector on the truck, the low beam circuit and ground. No pins in the high beam circuit, just pull the high beam fuse out of the fuse box.

With the MFS pulled back, the low beams are what are on.

For the factory fog lamps to operate without the high beam bulb in, you are going to need to do this mod :

https://www.f150online.com/forums/el...aybe-04-a.html

This has the link to both methods of getting the fog lamp relay a ground.

Glad to kept asking about the headlamp change, as I would not have thought to post the problem you will have with the facotyr fog lamps ( if installed )

Disconnect the HID fog lamps, and see if the headlamp conversion was done correctly.

Do not put a bigger fuse in.

BTW : you do have the ballast for the HID fogs hooked up to the battery, right ?
