Air Bag Warning Light
Air Bag Warning Light
I have a 2002 F150 XL with OE Bench Seat. The Seat Belts and Pretensioners are bolted to the cab corner(s) behind a plastic trim panel on each side.
I replaced the Bench Seat with a 40 20 40 Split Bench Seat from a 2002 XLT. The XLT seat has Seat Belts and Pretensioners integrated into the seat.
I removed the OE Belts from their location and rerouted the Pretensioner harness from the OE Pretensioner(s) location to the floor and connected to the mating terminal block(s) on the Replacement seat Pretensioners. The Pretensioners are fully operational; no problems.
Now when I turn the ignition key to ON the Air Bag Warning lamp glows and goes off as normal. However, with ignition switch in Run Position the Air Bag lamp comes on in Blinking Mode for a few seconds then stays illuminated as long as the ignition switch is on.
The local FORD dealer Service Writer speculates there is a miscommunication between the replacement seat and the vehicle computer. Does this sound reasonable? Can the computer be reprogrammed to recognize the replacement seat.
I might add everything functioned normally (except for the Pretensioners) until I connected the harness terminal blocks. I have disconnected the connections with no change; Air Bag light still comes on. I have looked for a blown fuse; nothing there.
Thanks for your help!!!

Thanks for the input!!!
The light blinks (4) times with a pause and then (6) more blinks. It repeats the cycle (5) times before it stays on.
Can you interpret the code and identify the problem?

WRONG table for a 2002.
On a 2002, LFC 46 corresponds to a driver's side pretensioner fault.
Always consult the proper manual for the year in question.
Disconnect the battery negative cable, then inspect the connectors and the pins at the RCM to see if one may not be seated fully. Not an uncommon occurrence.

Unfortunately, the direction you pointed him in was NOT the RIGHT direction....
While your intent was good, the information was not.
3 of the threads that I looked at specifically pointed to the driver's side pretensioner fault.

The google part I would say is a bad idea, as that is where I got that chart from some time ago. It was correct for the MY that I pulled it for, on the error. ( guy had a LFC, and kind of forgot to mention that he slammed a ditch )
Not trying to be a real big jerk, but it was the right direction ( try a search ).
Dude, what are you talking about? Are you smoking crack? lol
Think about harpoon and platter. Which would you rather have a message delivered to you on ?
Post #12, is close to a platter.
Post #13 is close to a harpoon, maybe that was lit on fire, with C4 on the end of it.
Edit :
I read this prior to the 60 second edit window, this version is better. The other one ( that I clicked quote on ) was kind of ouch. Had to put a maybe in there
