Winow switch going bad???

Here latley my window has a hard time going back up, it goes down just fine. But when I go back up ive got to push the switch down real hard, and sometimes it doesnt want to go. could this be the switch gone bad? Its an 06 power window crew cab, also the passenger window does the same, is both bad or just the main driver one??

It could be a window switch going bad but my bet is a broken ground wire in the door harness. I had the exact same issue with my truck its a simple fix and has been known to happen. I would try replacing the switch they cost about $60 then don't install just plug it in and see if everything is fine. If so keep it other wise return it and then click here:

That is the write up I did with step by step pictures on how to go about fixing it. Hope this helps good luck

Before you shell out money, take your switch out and disassemble it. I would bet it is bad contacts. I had the same problem as well as a few others here. All you have to do is clean the contacts where they are blackened from arcing. do a search on this to get more details.

Thanks ill investigate this weekend and let you know what the problem is. 05_crew I dont have that big white clip on the door jam as described in your post. But I can peel the black boot back to expose the wires. Ill get on this Friday and see what happens.

Considering the ground is used for both directions, I would focus on the switch or the motor.

Start with testing your switch ( you are correct, electrical items you bought it you own it ).

Test procedures driver's side ( file save as ) :

Front pass side testing

Focus on the testing on the driver's side. The passenger side goes through the driver's side first.

What mine looked like after a bit of scraping ( wouldn't go up on the driver's side )

To add to SSCULLY's excellent post, each switch has what appears to be four contacts, but only two of them are used. When you pull the switch down, a single contact on one side of the switch is used to complete the circuit and when you push the switch to put the window up, a contact diagonally opposite is used. These become "blackened" through use, but are easily cleaned with a typewriter eraser. You just have to get the switch apart. This may help: https://www.f150online.com/forums/ar...-switches.html It shows what the inside of one of the "single" switches.
