Intermittent Passenger Door Lock

hey everyone. on my 2000 f150, lately i have been hitting unlock to let somebody in my truck and the lock doesnt come up, but then once in a while i get lucky and it unlocks. when it doesnt i can unlock it manually with my key or usually i have to reach across and open it from the inside to let someone in. its getting annoying. any ideas?

I would say door lock actuator is on its way out. Some have cleaned them, other just replace them with new ones.

If the door unlocks with the key or the inside handle, that is 90% sure the lock actuator is taking its leave.

Couldn't it be the interior switch? He says he hits "unlock", and it doesn't work except now and then.

Guess it could be, nothing is out fo the question on this.

I reacted to :
but then once in a while i get lucky and it unlocks
That could also be an intermittent switch
