Gonna Attempt to Wire My Fogs..Again
Gonna Attempt to Wire My Fogs..Again
All right so over the summer I installed a Harley front valence along with foglights and a switch that controls the foglights.
Anyway long story short my factory wiring is screwed up somewhere so I said screw it and left it alone.
My thread where I was trying to work out the bugs is located below.
(BTW thanks to Cajun Storm and SSCULLY for their help in that thread, I wouldn't have gotten half as far as I did without them)
https://www.f150online.com/forums/el...foglights.html
Anyway I'm gonna have some spare time this week so I'd like to give it another shot.
However this time I'd like to wire it seprate from the factory harness.
The only thing is I want to run HIDs so im concerned about the strength of non-factory wiring.
So I'd like to splice into the factory harness..preferably when the wires from the 2 fogs meet. Is this possible? Also I dont really know much about relays or how and or where to wire them, but I assume it would be a good idea to use them?
Sorry for the long post but I guess I'm just looking for advice on how to run the wires, and what gauge wire, etc. etc.
Thanks guys, this is an awesome site!

If you are installing HID fog lamps, they should have come with a wiring harness, why not use that ?
The HID lights have wiring from the bulb to the ballast, and then the switch to the ballast, to turn the ballast on, not need for a relay ( the HID ballast serves as this function in HID lamps ).
Not much to be gained with using the factory wiring from the fuse panel to the location behind the bumper.

i dont have the HIDs yet. i still have the factory halogen bulbs installed.
They make HID kits that plug into the factory fog plugs.
I need to wire the foglights to a switch on my dash because they dont work at all right now. I need to know how to wire them independant of my regular headlights..

bump...?
gonna try this tomorrow.
unless someone says otherwise im gonna run a fused power wire to the switch
then the 2 positives from the fogs to the switch
then the 2 negatives from the fogs to the switch and splice into an existing ground wire
