Unplug the connector from the Brake Pressure Switch on the Master Cylinder.
Add an in line fuse between the terminals on the harness connector and call it a day. That BPS is a redundant switch. In the event that pressing on the brake pedal or turning off the cruise control fails to disengage the cruise control this switch will, sense the extra pressure from pressing harder down on the brake pedal and, open the circuit cutting power to the cruise system. I would recommend that in the event of cruise control deactivation failure you slip the transmission into neutral and steer to the side of the road. The engine will rev up to the limit of the neutral revlimiter and provide power steering control of the vehicle.

Note: Until you decide what to do unplug that connector and have it looked at. It should not show signs of overheating. That is how the fires started. The switch would overheat melt the connector and ignite the break fluid.. That circuit is live all the time.
