whacky gauges

When I start my 2000 V-6 all six gauges (RPM, MPH, oil temp, etc.) peg high for about 2 seconds then peg low for 2 seconds then return to normal. The only repairs I have ever had was the replacement of the alternator about a year ago. I was thinking there might be a relay or switch that is causing the gauges to go whacky on startup. Any ideas on what it might be??

Time for a new battery

This is a classic sign in these trucks of a battery going bad. Run by walmart and grab a new one for pretty cheap.

X3 - This is called "gauge sweep" and seems to be a symptom of low battery voltage. There are several posts on this in the forums.

You also need to make sure that the cables (all connections) are clean and tight. Poor or loose connections can cause the same thing.
