V1 Hardwire Problem

So, today I take my V1 outta my GTO and attepmt to hardwire it into the F-150. I found a open fuse on the fuse box and go to plug in my piggyback system. When it is pluged in....it wiggles. Left and Right, and is not tight. How do I fix this problem? It almost seems like the prongs are too small to fit in the fuse box. I went to AutoZone to buy another piggyback, and its the same problem.

Piggyback Fuse

Just incase you call it something different

Can't say why, don't have time to try an ATM add a fuse ( the name I use, sure there are others ).

You can just add this to the power that is in the over head, the detector draws less then 1 A.

Here is the mount pictures of my V1 in my 2001. I have not found a good way to mount it in my 2006, aside from using the windshield mount with a screw through into the mount for the visor. Still working this one, as I cannot use my visor down now.
color codes are the same form 2001 to 2006, I used pink scotch locks to get to the power in the over head console. The radar unit goes on and off with the key using these wire color codes.

How do I add that power, and where is the power located and coming from?

If memory serves me correctly, there are at least a few "unused" locations in the F-150 fuse box. I believe some of these don't even have the contacts for a fuse. That might explain why the Add-a-Fuse wiggles back and forth. It shouldn't in a good fuse location. I've never had a problem with the dozens I've installed. Could somebody else have damaged the fuse location? I've seen some real hack ways of tapping into a fuse in my day.

SSCULLY,

I hard mounted my V1 using a custom built bracket and the driver side visor mount near the center of the windshield. True, it somewhat limits the motion of my visor, but not so much as to disable it. It also puts the V1 partially in the view of my rear view mirror, but again, not so much as to cause a problem. I'll try to e-mail you a picture. Remind me if I forget.

I dont think any one has used these fuses. I am, however, the 2nd owner of the truck. What fuse location do you install your radar in?

You would be using the key in assy / run position that is already in the overhead console.

The thread topic I posted shows the info for the circuit.

The Connector C915 is up there.

The power in run position is a White w/ Lt Blue stripe wire ( pin #1 upper left hand side with the connector clips facing left )

The ground is pin #2 lower left hand corner black w/ a Lt Blue stripe.

This is circuit 294 which is the central juncion box fuse #23 ( 10 amps ) hot in run position.

You tap this on the wire haness side of the connector, and it is taking power before the solid state controller for the temp and compas, and is before the courtesy lamps circuit # 705 / 53.

It has nothing to do with, if you turn on the interior lights with either the keyfob or the dash switch and has nothing to do with the instrument illumination circuit. These are seperate circuits in the harness.

PAge 102-1 and 102-2 is you have a EVTM .
