HIDs causing static?

Why is it whenever I turn on my headlights that my radio becomes really really fuzzy? My local radio comes in like a bell but with lights on all I hear is white noise. WTF.

The ballasts screw up the incoming radio signals. There are 2 different fixes for this, one is to move the ballasts as far forward as you can. The other is build a lead box for the ballasts to reside in. The lead box will definetly work but the other option is iffy. Some people have this problem and others dont. The 97-03s seem to be more affected then the 04+

Another solution: listen to CDs...

Eh, I'm old school, and cheap, so I listen to my Zune MP3 via a FM xmitter. I used to have a Sony CD player but the ribbon cable broke on the face. I'd like to get it fixed but its big bucks. where can i find lead boxs for them?

Its going to be cheaper to just buy a CD deck with a 3.5mm input. I found this one for $80 at bestbuy.com I'm sure you could find them cheaper.

Ehh, I've heard JVC = Wal-Mart crap. I'm looking for either Sony or Panasonic. I may have my dad get me a new one with a AUX jack for my Zune...b-day is on the 22nd!

I have my zune playing through my alpine (9884 I think) and it sounds great. Hell of a lot better then CDs. I bought it for $150 and it was $20 to get all the cords to hook the zune up. I tried using the tuner thing and it just drove me nuts.

JVC > Sony. All day.

Look into Alpine or Pioneer Premiere decks.

Sony is cheap, worthless crap. Take it from a guy that installs for a living...

There is no difference between the Pioneer's and Premier decks other than color and a 2year warranty.

I highly recommend Pioneer head units... such as a Avic D3 with nav.

Or if you want something a little cheaper... get any higher-end Pioneer deck...

Or you can get a screen, and build a small computer, and install Windowz or Linux on it, and use that... have like windows media player.. or my fav VLC... and run that. I was thinking of getting a small mac mini and using that. I think the power adapter is 12v, if I'm not mistaken... but I dunno yet.

Some of the other decks are kind of cheap, and are not as good.
