Hard wiring LEDs to interior dome switch

I was thinking of getting 2x 6-foot strips of white LED's and mounting them under my bed rails and wiring it to my dome light so everytime I open the door or engage the switch, the dome and bed lights up. Do all I have to do is run a wire to the dome light or would it be easier to just mount the wire at the switch? I have no idea how I'm going to feed a wire from the bed to the roof

You probably need to look at where the wires to the dome light enter the fuse box and cut into them there. I don't have any kind of wiring diagram to help you here, but maybe you do.
