Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding
Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding
OK. Someone else had this problem, but in a different thread, so I thought I'd create on. I just bought a 2003 F150 FX4 with the works. The truck starts dinging for no reason. No warning lights come on, and no doors are ajar. Why the heck is it dinging???? Should I just disconnect the bell? Any input is appreciated. Also, it turns out the heater fan will operate even without the key in the ignition. I've discovered it is probably the blower relay switch that needs replacement, so I'll deal with that tomorrow. Does anyone know how to get the smoke
smell out of the vehicle?? Besides these three minor things, I think it's a great truck.

Erk, I have the same problem on my 2000 F150. The heater blower runs after I turn off the key. Then mysteriously, as I drove down the road, I hear this beep, beep, beep, under the dash above the emergency brake lever, about behind the gas gauge. What is this? Have you found your trouble???? I need help. thanks
well i cant help you with the other problems but as far as getting the smoke smell out i would replace the in cabin air filter (if that year has them) and clean the head liner. this should help alot. my buddy detailed cars for a living and he used this powder stuff that circulated through the HVAC system. it got the smell out and worked like a charm. try posting this in the detailing section those guys will probebly know the best stuff to use
Erk, I'm going to make a wild ------ guess here, and it's based on my Wife's Toyota. If I don't get the seat belt fastened in the passenger seat right away and she starts driving, it "dings" me to tell me I'm being unsafe.
Obviously, this thing senses weight in the seat and senses the condition of the seat belt.
Now, I don't know if Ford did anythng like this in your model year, but if it thinks the seat is occupied and the belt is not fastened, it might ding.
Do you have an owner's manual? If not, you can download one for free here: https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenan...ls/default.asp It should tell you if you are so "blessed".
And, I haven't checked MY owner's manual for this "feature", or observed it, because Janet always buckles up - right away! (Maybe she knows something about my driving that I don't know.) :o
If this is the case, I'd start looking for a faulty "weight" sensor under the seat.
And, I know this is just a shot in the dark, but it's either this or some problem with the "key left in the ignition" warning circuit.

Do you have anything in the passenger seat? If I put my laptop bag in the passenger seat it will ding.

i flew A-7's in Vietnam right at the end of the war.

It could be that you have a problem with your airbag warning light (burnt out) or some other part of your airbag system. I know the beeping you are talking about. It is 5 sets of 5 beeps or so. They are not loud chimes, but actually a softer tone which sound like they are coming from deep inside the dash. I would check to see if your airbag light comes on in your dash as the trucks computer goes through its system check upon startup.
