Smile DRL and relays

On the 2008 F150 on the driver’s fender toward the front there is an auxiliary relay. I have the relay for F150 w/o DRL. For ones with DRL there is another relay (shown in the owners Manuel). This relay is set up for DRL. Does anyone know what would happen if you the relay w/o DRL and replaced it with the one for DRL. The mounting is the same and it looks like it takes the same plug.

I put this in the wrong forum the first time. I hope this is the correct one.

Thanks

If your setup is like mine, and I suspect it is, the relay holder is there, but there are no wires to it. If you look down into the slots of the recepticle, I doubt that you'll see any metal contacts.

If you want to activate true DRLs, you'll probably have to do like I did and buy a DRL module (about $70) and wire it in yourself. This involves cutting into 5 wires under the instrument panel and hooking a 6th wire from the module to ground.

It's not TOO hard, but you have to take some of the panels off the instrument panel and remove part of the steering wheel shroud to get to the wires.
