Remote Start Problem
Remote Start Problem
I recently picked up a 2008 Supercab from the dealer. It is a 5.4 XLT. For about a week the remote start worked fine. Now when I try to start the truck with the remote, the horn chirps 6 times tell me that the system is in valet/service mode (according to the manual). I have followed the manual to the letter to take it out of this mode. I have tried several times and the horn does not sound like the manual says it will. Any suggestions, other than take it in to the dealer?

You must have a diferent system than I do. What does your remote look like? Mine is a seperate remote from the keyless entry and you just hold the button, the horn honks once, then a few seconds later honks again and it starts. What does your status light on top of the dash do after you hit the remote start button? I am assuming all of your doors and hood are shut.
My remote is also separate from the keyless entry remote. I don't see a light on the dash, but there is a light under the dash that is flashing red all the time. It also used to operate the same way yours does.

is it a fast blink? Mine did this and I had to get a new pats interface. Sometimes they unprogram themselves though. The first thing I would do is reprogram the remotes and program the pats interface.
If you can't get any of this to work, call 1-800-FORDKEY. I did this a couple of times and they were very helpful. Last resort is the dealer, which was what I had to do since mine was a faulty PATS interface. Good luck. BTW, have you checked out this site http://techservices.codesystems.com/Manuals.aspx?f=1
you will have toregister, but it has all of the manuals and stuff online for the factory Ford remote start combinations.

This evening I went through the sequence to re-program the controls and the remote start now works fine. Thank you everybody for the help. I still am not able to deactivate the autolocks but I can learn to live with that. (Guess I am just used to my old XL.)
