Since this old thread has been revived, I might as well add that I soldered the connections for my fire and ice light bar to the 7-pin trailer light wiring. No problems at all.

I did not say it, but it was mentioned by 2stroked already, but never hurts to bring this up again.

I thought he talked about tapping into the backup wire in the taillight, which you found might have put an unacceptable draw on that circuit with the stock backup lights.

Anyway, I was just pointing out a method that seems to work fine and was not too difficult.

Sorry I focused on the solder part for some reason, not the main information being presented. OCD tenancies again.

I need to improve my reading comprehension these days, it seems to be reverting to that of a 3 year old.
