2000 Without Keyless Fob... does it have keyless entry?
Well, I feel like a dumb***. The 22-pin box IS the RAP.
I figured it out when I took a flashlight and a mirror with me. The backside of this 22-pin box has a label that says "Remote Keyless Entry". The side facing me has a white sticker with designations for each of the 22 pins. I used the mirror on all 6 sides of the box, and could not locate the 5-digit number. Any ideas?

i dont know if you realize this...the 5 digit # is for the keypad entry. so if you cant find the # on the RAP, then i would assume u dont have it.
maybe u do have it, in which case i really cany help ya.

I guess my next step is to hit eBay for a couple of remotes, since I have the system. My only concern is programming them with the key on/off sequence, since my doors lock automatically the instant the key is turned on. I did the 8 on/off sequence for the heck of it, and the doors locked as usual, but didn't unlock. Who knows if the programming mode was entered or not?
the programming mode is all in the timing.
ive heard of people with the same auto lock problem and theyve managed to do it.
get a beer, maybe a cigarette, and go out and play around with it. practice makes perfect.

Since I don't drink or smoke, this may be a bit of a challenge.
i got to looking around also and found a white box with FOUR digits on it . (I do not have a keypad on the door) does this mean i can get a remote fob and program it and it will still work??

I'm no expert, but from my limited research on this board, it appears that all of the '97 and up XLT models come standard with remote keyless entry, and it is optional on the other models. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable will chime in.

If you have a back box that says RAP on it, I would assume you have the RKE. You can try 2 things.
1. buy the remotes and hope
2. find someone with a ford with RKE, and try programming his RKE fobs to your truck first. You should still get the lock / unlock cycle, so try cycling faster for the 8 times. ??
Good luck

That is the easy way to check if you can program RKE fobs.
The 4 large digits don't ring a bell, but that does not mean much. The 97 to 00 MY trucks were all just a little different then each, and from the '01 - '03 MY trucks.

Look at the picture above, with the white box in it. The 2nd picture shows the parking brake mech on the left hand side of the picture.
Still might not be there, but you are looking in the wrong place with the picture in your post.
