door locks

ok a couple of months ago i bought a 2000 f 150 7700 supercab 4x4. When i start the ignition the doors lock automatically. Is this a type of aftermarket system or what? Would it be hard to change back to a stock setup? What is approxmate dealer charge for that?

When you say start, do you mean when you put the truck in gear? If they lock when you put the truck in gear its factory and you can disable that.

My '99 5.4L 4x4 does the same thing. As soon as the key is turned, the doors lock. They unlock automatically when the ignition is shut off. I wouldn't mind it if it shut off when you go over 5mph, but the way it is you have to worry about starting the pickup to check the transmission fluid, etc and having the keys locked in the pickup with the engine running. Not fun. How do you disable the system?

Those of you with the doors that lock as soon as the ignition is turned on probably have a dealer-installed aftermarket system. I found out today that that's what mine is:

Deactivating/activating the autolock feature

Before following the procedure, make sure that the igntion is OFF and all vehicle doors and the liftgate window are closed.

You must complete steps 1-7 within 30 seconds or the procedure will have to be repeated. If the procedure needs to be repeated, you must wait 30 seconds.

1. Turn the ignition key to RUN.
2. Press the power door unlock control three times.
3. Turn the ignition key from RUN to OFF.
4. Press the power door unlock control three times.
5. Turn the ignition back to RUN. The horn will chirp.
6. Press the unlock control, then press the lock control. The horn will chirp once if the autolock was deactivated or twice (one short and one long chirp) if autolock was activated.
7. Turn the ignition to OFF. The horn will chirp once to confirm the procedure is complete.

m4 madness, i have the same module as the one you have shown up above in your link. Is there a way to get key fobs for the aftermarket version put on by the dealer at the dealer?

Yes. You'll need to call 1-800-FORD-KEY and provide them with the little number in the corner of the sticker on the box to get the Ford part number for the remote. The number on mine was "Z-9", and is probably the same as yours. The Ford Part number for the remote is F7AZ-15K601-AB, and dealer cost is $52 each. If yours has "Z-9" on it, then you can skip calling the phone number above, and just have your dealer order the remote(s).

EDIT: Here's one I just located online:
