i have been experiencing this dash noise on acceleration which i thought was coming from the tach or speedo. 2 out of 3 dealers said it was intake noise, the other said they didn't know, but that it wasn't intake. nobody has been able to fix it. tonight out of curiosity i put the cluster in HEC Dealer Test Mode. after TEST appeared, SWEEP GUAGES DID. the tach and speedo then went from 0 to their respective maxes all the while making the noise that i hear during acceleration sort of a buzzing noise. this is the first time i tried this and prior to this the dealers stated that the gauges were electronic and couldn't make any noises. i figure there has to be some sort of motor or gear or what not to make them move which would mean there could be noise. the truck is still under ford factory warranty is this something the dealer should fix? any help is appreciated. 2005 4.6 l automatic trans.

 

Go back to the dealer that didn't say it was a intake problem and run the test with the service manager standing there and they will probably swap the cluster out under warrenty.
