Help with back up lights

Question Help with back up lights

picked up some hellas 550's and i wanna add them as back up lights. to turn on when i put in reverse. can some one help me with the wiring diagram??

Summary of the wiring diagram.

Option #1
1. Red - Power to Relay
2. Black - Relay to Lamps
3. Blue - Relay to Low Beam tap
4. Green - Parking Lamp tap to rocker switch
5. Yellow - Rocker switch to relay

Option #2
1. Red - Power to Relay
2. Black - Relay to Lamps
3. Blue - Relay to Ground
4. Green - Parking Lamp tap to rocker switch
5. Yellow - Rocker switch to relay

they way i think it would go
1. Red - Power to Relay
2. Black - Lamps to Relay
3. Blue - Reverse Tap to Relay
4. Green - Parking Lamp tap to rocker switch
5. Yellow - Rocker switch to relay

This is the same way my hella 500's are wired up-only differance is I have the parking lamp as lead instead of the reverse light

The only time you would hook the blue ground wire from the relay to another lead such as the low or high beam is if there is a ground problem and the lights come on with any light being on, or something like that. Hook the blue wire to ground and you should be set.

so with the green going from the reverse light tap to the rocker switch i will be able to turn the lights on with out it the truck being in reverse right? one more question.... will i be able to turn the new lights off while on reverse if i wanted to?

Ok i must have misunderstood what you wanted the first time, if you want to be able to turn the lights on/ off as you please you should be able to run the green wire to the battery (put a fuse on the line-something small like 1 amp or if that is to small maybe a 5 amp) or you can run to parking light lead but if you do that the backup lights will only work if you have your parking lights on
