AUX input and mystery connector

I pulled the stock head unit out of my 05 Lariat to hook up some RCA cables for my MP3 player into the AUX input to find that the AUX input is, in fact, not an RCA input. Disappointed was I. What the hell is the AUX input for and how do I use it?

Also what is this connector behind the head unit?

There really isn't an AUX input, if there was, it would be on the faceplate, where it could be easily used. The extra wires/connectors are for features that may/may not be included with your truck, such as, navigation, audiophile, CD changer, ect.

(shrink your photo, it's way too big and you really can't make it out anyway)

I realize that the connector is for an option I don't have, that would explain why nothing is connected to it. I am just asking if anyone knows what option it is as apparently it is prewire for whatever it is and may be something I can use or add myself.

You can add whatever you like, as long at it was an option and you get the additional parts.

Well, why don't you think about what you're asking........
You asked a vuage question.

"...it is prewire for whatever it is and may be something I can use or add myself.."

Yes and/or no, depending on what you might want to do. If you care to elaborate, perhaps your questions may be answered more to your liking, or not..........:santa:

The AUX button would be used for something like the Factory SAT radio, I installed this.

If you want to add RCA cables, check out getting a PIE interface for this. This would give you the ability to add in RCA or 3.5 mm plug.

I cannot make out the where the connector is at in that picture, to know what it might be for. Maybe rear seat entertainment connector ??? Gt me, that is a huge SWAG.

As for the comment above, ignore it.

I believe the connector in question is for you to hook up a brake controller if you tow a trailer.

That is not it, that is a pigtail that is added, and the wire size would be much larger on a few of them.

Also, that connects to under the dash by the driver's knee area, just behind the anti submarine panel.
