strobes
search the internet for hideaway strobes. you'll find several places. I bought mine at sirennet.com, seemed to be the cheapest. I have a whelen 90w 6 outlet power supply and six strobes. two in my corner lights, two in the tail lights and two in the cargo lamps. If you have the money whelen now makes hide a led that are nice and mount the same. galls.com, strobesnmore.com and many others have strobes. i have pictures in my gallery
The issue you are going to run into is strobes are not legal unless authorized by the city or county you are opperating in. most states are adopting strict pennalty for the there use, upto jail and confiscating your vehicle. just a friendly note

these are videos of mine. Technically they are illegal but up until recently i was a vol. fire department member but i am also a police officer. i will be changing the blue out to amber for plowing. I also have a small amber led roof light. at least in new york police wont bother you if your using them for plowing....safety is everything.... just look and see what colors are illegal. in ny red, blue, green and clear are emergency vehicles only. amber is ok and red to the rear is ok. check your local laws!!

One thing you're going to find with hideaway styole strobes is that you have to cut a rather large hole on the lamp housings to mount the actual strobe bulb. If you don't seal those bad boys correctly, you have all sorts of mosture problems. Then of course there's the wiring that you have to run to all four corners of the vehicle. All in all, it's a fairly involved install. I've also seen hideaways that really aren't that bright.
I added a light to the roof of my truck years ago for the very same reason you want to - when I'm pulling somebody out of the ditch or when I'm on a service call at the road side. I think you may find a magnet mounted roof light an easier option. There are strobes, halogen rotators, LEDs just to name a few. The halogen rotators are fairly inexpensive and work well. The strobes are a bit more expensive and also work well. LEDs are silly expensive, but quite effective. I think you'll find that companies like Star make a great light for a bit over a hundred bucks. The best part? When you don't want or need it, you can pull it off.

Before I forget, let me add one more caution based on many years of experience. Don’t for a minute believe that any kind of light show – no matter how powerful – will keep you out of harms way. Case in point. Since I install warning lights as a side line, I’ve slowly upgraded the lighting on my trucks over the years. The current light bar has 4 amber halogen rotators, 2 amber strobes, 2 amber LED strips and 2 amber wig-wags along with 2 red brake lights. (The picture below shows it before I added some of the other options listed above.) I also have a Line of Fire LED bar under my tailgate. Needless to say, that kind of light show ought to get some attention.
This past weekend we had a bit of a storm up here in New York State and the roads got a bit dicey. I stopped to assist a young lady who had pretty well ripped the left-front corner off of her Pontiac when she attempted to mow down a cable type guide rail on an expressway. (She was OK. The car was toast.) Anyway, I stopped to see if she was OK and positioned my truck so as to keep other morons from hitting her until the State Police arrived because the road was VERY slippery. With the full light show (and 3 flares I placed 50 yards up the road) going, do you think anybody would slow down? Heck no! It did seem to get them to at least move a bit out of the way though. No matter how many lights you have on your truck, keep your eyes open and be careful!

i agree, assisting motorist on the side of the road is a very dangerous task. even with a police car and red lights people do not and will not slow down!! it annoys me when the headlines read "slippery roads and bad weather is the cause for three deaths"!! no dumb *** drivers is the cause for three deaths!!

Get ready for a bashing of illegal, impersonating a police officer and all sorts of crap. This happened in a thread a while back. Do a search and you will find it. Anyway good luck on what route you decide. Check out ebay also. Lots of good deals. Several companies also make dash and visor strobes and all sorts of different mounting brackets. Keep us posted!
