It would probably be a good idea for you also to pull your battery cables every six months and clean them with a solution of baking soda and water and then wash the whole area down around the battery with water to keep the corrosion done. Looking at your picture of your truck in the mud after days like this clean with water underneath and check those connection on the starter to make sure you did not damage them.

Good luck

I think i found the problem. My truck finally started impacting the way i drive. The volt metter in the dash was running all the way up and then down and i could run my radio or A/C with out it flucuating. So i went ot a hole in the wall shop and we tested my battery. It was at 5 volts.

We put it on a charger and put a new batery in and tried to test the system. Found a fualty ground at the battery and then after we fixed that we tested the system.

The volts at the battery when the truck was off was 12.4. When the truck was on it was at 12.5. But after some time it would jump up toe 13's and then back dwon.

We decided that i have an intermiten alterator and that i should replace it.

Does htis sound right?

Well i know some time has passed and this is an old thread but it still isn't getting the power. In the last couple of days i have been watching the volt meter and my battery b4 start up is always 12.2-12.4. While the truck is heading down the road the volt meter reads 14.4-14.7 and when i flick something on it will go down to 13.6 and then will come straight back up.

Since we have last talked the truck was doing better..... But when it gets on a bad streak it seems to just keep getting worse and worse. The orther day i was checking lights on a trailer and had my door open, stereo on but i couldn't hear it 5 feet from the cab(not load) and my lights on and every time i would go to move the blinker or hit the brakes i would find the radio and everything else fighting for power. That solenoid was clicking under the dash. The lights on my radio would blink on and off.

A week earlier i had a check engine light due to a mis fire. Every time it would blink so would every light in my dash.

MY tranny was out a month ago again and i cleaned every wire to the starter, and trust me, everything is put back together right.

What to do?????? Im last at this point. I want to put a second battery in just to give it more umffff and forget about it, but thats not solving hte problem. Its just a bandaid. Not to mention that my battery right now has enough power to do what i ask of it.
