Where would i find the grounds under the kick panels. I just got back from autozone. THe altenator is good. Passes all the tests on the bench. Im heading down to reinstall it.

 

JMC while your here. I just got done putting hte altenator on and i had removed my intake to do it. But i noticed that there was a small amount of oil right at the MAF. there was non in the throttle body. Im assuming it was from the idle air bypass. But i didn't look. WHat does this mean?

 

Do you have the same issue with the key in the run position?You said in acc it has issues what about in the run position.

 

Same issue. As long as the truck isn't running.

 

The grounds are green bolts with black wires, can't miss them. Should be two on passenger side and one on driver's side.

So the kick panel on both sides. Is there any trick to removing them?

 

Look closely at the pictures. They are in sequence. Pull up on the sill plate then remove the rubber door seal then pull back on the kick panel.

I will check them. Should i spray them with CRC or just clean them? If there inside how can they be so dirty? Is there any on the outside. As you can tell my truck see plenty of mud and water

 

So i pulled of the kick panels and everything looks fine. Im guna wire brush them and spray them with some CRC later tonight. The starter.... Well just to cover my bases i will do the same for. I had the starter out two months ago when i pulled the tranny and replaced the clutch and tranny so i dont think that is the problem. My electrical problem as been getting worse for 8 to 10 months now. But you can never be to safe. I will look into them.

 

Did you check the battery wires for corrosion at both ends? Both the positive and negative?

So..... Heres the latest.

I cleaned every wire that went ot the starter, power box, and both grounds in the cab.

It got much better but i think that there is still room for improvment.

Is there any other grounds that i could clean???

None the less. I left the lights on for a couple of min. and then came back. With the lights on, i was able to roll up both windows(at hte same time) with the radio louder than it would stand to be on at all before. And it didn't cut out. You guys are awsome.



I also sprayed all the same cables with that corrosion provention spray.

Wat else can i do?

 

Good job, sorry away a few days. There are body grounds under the truck bed back by the springs that you could look at. If they are not damaged I would not touch them. Just inspect them. Make sure you get that volt gauge. You will need to monitor you electrical system now. You want at least 13.5 volts showing when the engine is running. It would probably be a good idea for you also to pull your battery cables every six months and clean them with a solution of baking soda and water and then wash the whole area down around the battery with water to keep the corrosion done. Looking at your picture of your truck in the mud after days like this clean with water underneath and check those connection on the starter to make sure you did not damage them.
