Cruise control not working

I have already read;
https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=284852
It didn't seem to answer my question (I'm a NOOB)

The other day I was going along put the cruise on and then about 3mins. later it kicked off, I tried to re-engage it the "cruise" light would blink once and go blank. Tried again later on and the light wouldn't even come on. I have checked the fuse it is still good, the service engine light is not on.

The truck is a 01 F150 supercrew roughly 66,K miles I did the recall over a year ago.

really would prefer to do the work myself, college student NO MONEY for the dealer.

Thanks for all the input

Run the self-test diagnostic while in failure mode and see if you have a "flash code".

You will have to excuse me I'm not sure what you mean or how you run a self-test diagnostic.

While I am the wrong Steve, I think this is what he is referring to :

With the key off depress and hold the cruise control off button while turning the ignition to the run position, don't start the truck, the cruise light will flash once to let you know it is in self test.
Five additional flashes indicate a bad cruise control servo

Release the cruise off switch and within 5 seconds depress the other switches in sequence:
1. on
2. resume
3. coast
4. set/ accel
The speed control light will flash as each switch is depressed.

If the last one does not flash it may then flash a code

After this the cruise will move the throttle to test the actuator and the cable.
Make sure the throttle returns to idle and turn the key off.

I had the same thing happen to my 01 supercrew! I would try to engage cruise by using the set/accel button. The light in the dash would blink everytime I pushed the button, nothing else happened. I work at a dealership in Duluth and I had a mechanic look at it and he said it was some cruise control switch; I wanna say the deactivation switch but Im not positive, I would have to look at the repair order. (I guess they've seen this before) The part itself is like 8-15 dollars I think. After about 40 dollars with parts and labor I had my cruise control up and working again.

I did the self-test diagnostic all of the buttons light the "cruise" up.

How do I know that the throttle is tested?

I went out and tested it, still does not work.
