how to reset door pad?

one more question, sscully, how in the hell did you manage to remove the left nut on the stock door handle? i've got a 1/4'' ratchet and a swivel, and still can't get the damn thing off. i also loosened the big window channel, and pulled out the pin that allows you to open the door. i even tried to drill a hole and put the ratchet through there. i must have ****ed around with it for like 2 hours, and i'm starting to really get frustrated!
